Tropaeline O‐oxalic acid‐benzalkonium chloride photogalvanic cells for solar energy conversion and storage

Abstract The photogalvanic (PG) cells involve a change in the electrode potential by photochemical processes along with diffusion of ionic species through bulk electrolyte. PG have used so far complex H‐shaped cell design, heavy sensitizer molecules low diffusivity, and photo‐stability. All these factors are not conducive to fabrication cheap good electrical output. To address all concerns, tropaeline‐O dye photosensitizer (a molecular weight molecule higher photo‐stability) has been exploited diffusion‐friendly cost simple transparent cylindrical glass tube. optimum values cell's parameters are: 998 mV, current 3200 µA, power 829.5 µW, it is quite similar at illumination window sizes.
